Event Description
The Wanstead Library Grief Cafe is a safe and confidential space to meet others, to share stories and to explore thoughts and feelings around the experience of grief and loss. It may be that your loss is anticipated, recent or a long time ago, but whatever your circumstances – this is a supportive environment for reflection and conversation. It’s a place for you to find mutual support and encouragement, and there’s no pressure to talk if you’d prefer to just listen.
At our Grief Cafe there is no agenda, objective or theme; the conversation is simply led by the people in the group. Please note that this is not a counselling session but a supportive space for those who are grieving who wish to share their experiences with others going through the same thing.
Sessions take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month and are delivered by Creating Conversations CIC & Redbridge Libraries Death Positive Library Project.
The session starts promptly at 6.30pm. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate latecomers as this disrupts the session too much. We thank you for your understanding!
This Grief Café is funded to support residents in the London Borough of Redbridge and those with a Redbridge GP, but everyone is welcome to participate for FREE – so join us for refreshments and a friendly supportive ear.

The Death Positive Library
Redbridge Libraries are the founder member of the Death Positive Library movement in the UK. The project uses public libraries as safe and trusted places to start conversations about death, dying and loss. It is led by Anita Luby and Rhonda Brooks, who both work for the library service which is managed by Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure.

Creating Conversations CIC
Creating Conversations CIC creates spaces for open conversations about death, dying and grief.
Debbie Young set up Creating Conversations in 2022 with her colleague Alberta Gutteridge.
Debbie has been working in the field of death, dying and end-of-care planning since 2011 and is an experienced Death Café host and facilitator. Debbie also provides training, facilitated workshops and consultancy.
